English for Academic Purposes: Mastering the language of international business

English for Academic Purposes (EAP) programs are being offered at Strathfield College not only to support international students to speak fluently and write articulately but also to prepare them for leadership roles that add value to the global workplace once they complete their international degree.

The EAP Program is a series of courses to prepare international students who are aiming to enter into an Australian university or college to acquire a globally-recognised vocational, bachelor, masters or doctoral degree.

It is designed for students with strong intermediate to upper-intermediate to advanced levels of English proficiency. In this program, students are trained how to articulate their thoughts, think critically and solve problems creatively by using English in everyday situations. This is in preparation for possible future roles in multinational companies where English is the spoken and written medium.

All units are skills-based, concentrating on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills that address particular problems students have when studying at Australian universities.

At a glance

Each EAP program runs for 10 weeks of 20 hours per week sessions with periodic assessments. Formative assessments take place on a daily or weekly basis. Summative assessments take place throughout each course.
